Carmel and Indianapolis

Agentic UX design is the user experience design of products where AI agents act on a person's behalf: what the agent may do, when a person approves, how its reasoning is shown and how a wrong move is undone. Aero Interactive is an agentic UX design studio in Carmel, just north of Indianapolis, founded in 2014.

What is agentic UX?

Agentic UX is the experience of software that does the work for you. The agent books, files, sends or changes something, and the person stays accountable for the result. Good agentic UX makes that result easy to check and quick to correct.

Most UX design helps a person complete a task. Agentic UX helps a person hand the task over, see what happened and step in when it matters. We call the full practice agentic product design, and agentic UX is the part people see and touch.

How is agentic UX different from AI UX?

AI UX design covers an AI feature a person operates: a suggestion, a summary, a chat panel. Agentic UX starts when the software acts without being asked at each step. That adds approval rules scoped by risk, a visible history of what the agent did, undo and handoff, and output that stays consistent with the rest of the product.

What does agentic UX design cover?

  1. #01

    Delegation

What the agent may do on its own, scoped by action and by risk, and what it must hand back to a person.

  2. #02

    Verification

Review and approval ranked by consequence, with the reasoning and the exact change shown before anything irreversible happens.

  3. #03

    Recovery

Confidence signals, failure states, undo and handoff, designed as real flows instead of error messages.

  4. #04

    Consistency

Rules that keep agent output on your design system, brand and tone.

Where does agentic UX usually break?

Approval fatigue is the most common failure. When every action asks for sign-off, people stop reading and approve everything. We wrote about it in Agentic products live or die at the approval step.

The next most common is an agent that sounds equally sure whether it is right or wrong. Designing for AI failure states covers the fix: calibrated confidence and a short path to correction.

Is there an agentic UX designer near me in Indianapolis?

Yes. Aero Interactive is in Carmel, just north of Indianapolis, so teams in the Indianapolis area can meet us in person for a kickoff, a workshop or a review. Most of our work runs remotely inside the client's own tools, with clients from Boston to London to Australia.

Does using AI tools make a studio an agentic UX studio?

No. Many studios now use AI to draft copy or speed up wireframes. We use it that way too. Agentic UX design is about the product your customers use, where the software itself takes actions, and it needs the approval, recovery and consistency work described above.

How does an agentic UX engagement work?

  1. #01

    Map the actions

Every action the agent can take, what it costs if it is wrong, and who is accountable for it.

  2. #02

    Design the gates

Autonomy tiers, approval and review flows, how reasoning is shown and how people recover.

  3. #03

    Prototype in your codebase

Built against your design system, so what you test is what ships.

  4. #04

    Instrument and hand over

Delegation rate, verification time and override rate wired into your analytics, with the rules written down for your team.

Frequently asked questions

What is agentic UX?

Agentic UX is the user experience of software where AI agents act on a person's behalf. It covers what the agent may do on its own, when a person must approve, how the agent's reasoning and actions are shown, and how a person undoes or corrects a wrong move.

How is agentic UX different from AI UX?

AI UX covers an AI feature a person operates, such as a chat panel or a suggestion. Agentic UX starts when the software acts on its own, which adds approval rules scoped by risk, a visible action history, undo and handoff.

Is there an agentic UX design studio in Indianapolis?

Yes. Aero Interactive is an agentic UX and AI product design studio in Carmel, Indiana, just north of Indianapolis, founded in 2014.

Can we meet an agentic UX designer in person near Indianapolis?

Yes. Teams in the Indianapolis area can meet us in Carmel for a kickoff, a workshop or a review. Most work runs remotely inside the client's own tools, with clients from Boston to London to Australia.

Should every action an AI agent takes need human approval?

No. If everything needs approval, people stop reading. Routine, reversible actions can run and be logged, undoable ones can notify the person, and irreversible or high-stakes actions wait for explicit approval with the reasoning shown.

How do you measure agentic UX?

By how people use and check the agent: the share of eligible users who delegate a task, how long it takes to verify a result, how often people override the agent, and whether they come back to it.

How does an agentic UX engagement start?

With a 15-minute call about one agent feature. From there we map its actions, design the approval and recovery flows, and prototype them in your codebase.
